We have quite the bountiful basket this week! Onions, garlic, and potatoes cover our staple items that will store well and can last for weeks. Tomatoes, cucumber, and sweet Italian peppers will fulfill any cravings for fresh, cool veggies that can be eaten as is. And eggplant and roasted chiles join sweet peppers as new items this week. These are quintessential late summer vegetables that introduce the richness of the fall produce you will be enjoying in the coming weeks. Whipstone Farm is well known for their delicious roasted chiles. These can be used right away or stored in the freezer for later use. We typically freeze ours and use them to make green chile sauce throughout the winter. However you use them, they are delicious! I’ve included a recipe below for eggplant and sweet pepper red curry.
This is the last week of flower shares, so we hope those of you who have subscribed to Whipstone’s bouquets this year have loved them as much as we do! Although the flower share is over for the season, you can still buy Whipstone Farm bouquets at Interdependence Natural Foods in Sedona year round. So if you need to scratch your fresh flower itch, please head over there. They get their produce and flowers delivered on Wednesdays as well.
Have a great week!
Meghan
