October 4, 2023

It is our penultimate week of the season and it’s hard to believe it has gone by so fast! This season has had many ups and downs. The long, cool Spring ensured an incredible fruit year, but it also slowed the growth of many crops. The weather early in the season was lovely for the growers working in the fields, but it was also accompanied by volumes of grasshoppers heretofore unseen. Rain was welcome after a searing July, but it also brought hail and flooding. Throughout all the ups and downs, you have been here supporting our farmers and providing the insurance that they would have a place to sell their produce week after week. Thanks to all of you for being on this journey with us.

This week we have a quintessential Autumn basket. Potatoes, garlic, apples, and butternut squash will keep for many weeks (and possibly months), allowing you to enjoy the harvest well into the Fall. Multi-color bell peppers, parsley, purple beans, and salanova head lettuce bring fresh greens (and other colors!) to your table this week. All are perfect examples of a late season harvest.

If you have yet to sign up for the 2024 season, you can reserve your share here. Early registration for existing shareholders will be available until November 11th. Any spots not reserved by that date will be opened up to those on our waitlist, so be sure to reserve your spot before the deadline.

Have a wonderful week!
Meghan
