Good morning! I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful rainy day. Luckily, it appears that this storm has been pretty mellow, so we shouldn’t see any damage from flooding or torrential downpours. Just a nice, old-fashioned, gentle rain.
It seems that everywhere I turn this week I find someone offering me peaches. Peach season has come on strong and there are many, many people around the Verde Valley looking for those interested in lightening their trees’ loads. This week we will have peaches from two Sedona orchards, courtesy of Mario Velaruz. If you are interested in extra peaches for preserving or general enjoyment, give Mario a call at (928) 451-1830.
After one brutal week without salad mix, it’s back! Hilary is hoping to have enough lettuce to supply us for most weeks moving forward, but the humidity, worms, and weeds have been making it difficult. Recent plantings at Willowbrook are looking good though, and the last planting of lettuce will be transplanted into the field this week. In addition to salad mix, we have broccoli this week! We had broccolini earlier in the season, but this is our first broccoli and I am really looking forward to it. Also making a first appearance this week are bell peppers. Yum! Tomatoes and collard greens round out this week’s lineup. I hope you enjoy it as much as I will.
