Happy Labor Day! I hope that most of you are looking forward to a restful and fun day. As with most days throughout the growing season, our farmers are out in the fields today planting, picking, weeding, watering, and tending to the crops that will feed us for many weeks to come. Thank you to Hilary, the whole Whipstone crew, and all of the other growers whose produce we are so lucky to enjoy.
This week we have a perfect late summer basket. Delicious green beans, crisp cucumbers, perfectly ripe tomatoes, tender potatoes, flavorful summer squash, and the unsung heroes: garlic and onions. This particular variety of onion, cippolini, is small and sweet. They are perfect for roasting, so I have included a recipe below for roasted green beans and cippolini onions. This is the first time we have had this particular variety in our CSA, so we hope you like them.
Have a wonderful week!
Meghan
