May 31, 2023

The weather has turned around and the produce is making a rebound. Plants are so resilient and their desire to grow really shows in these circumstances. We may still notice hail damage on some crops in the coming weeks, including when fruit crops ripen later in the season, but I am grateful that there is still plenty of delicious produce headed our way this week.

The early season greens are such a pleasure. This week we have arugula, salad mix, cilantro, Swiss chard, and chicory mix! Chicory is an umbrella term for some spicy and tangy greens such as radicchio and escarole. This chicory mix includes a range of these baby greens and is great on its own or combined with the milder salad mix you’ll receive as well. In addition to all the greens this week, we have a first harvest of spring onions. Spring onions are freshly dug and must be refrigerated, as they have not formed their protective outer skin. These are milder than cured onions, so they can be enjoyed fresh on a salad as well as cooked.

Have a fabulous week!
