September 29, 2022

I can hardly believe we only have three more CSA distributions including this week! The season has flown by so quickly and I will miss this delicious produce when the season ends. Next week I will provide some local food resources for the winter season. In the meantime, we have a delicious basket this week full of the last kicks of summer (basil, eggplant, green beans, and tomatoes), fall favorites (apples, butternut squash, kale, and potatoes), and some purple daikon radish for a taste of something new. Daikon is an Asian radish that is used for making kimchi and in many delicious Asian dishes. You can also enjoy it the way you would eat any other radishes.

You are now welcome (and encouraged!) to sign up for the 2022 CSA season. We will begin contacting those on our waitlist on November 15th, so please secure your spot before then. We cannot guarantee a share for you if you sign up after November 15th. This coming year we will be raising our prices slightly to cover increasing costs for our farmers and for produce delivery. This is only the fourth time our prices have gone up in the 15 years that Verde Valley CSA has been operating! We strive to keep local produce affordable for our shareholders while also providing a fair market price to our growers. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

You can sign up for the 2022 season here. There is also a printable version of the Early Bird Contract available through that link if you prefer to print and mail your contract. Our distribution volunteers will have contracts available as well. Thank you for your support!

Have a lovely week!
