September 23, 2020

We’re entering the final stretch of the season, with only four weeks left now. And what a season it has been! The produce this year has been top notch and so abundant. Our growers have done such an excellent job of providing the freshest vegetables to all of us and I am so grateful to them. And even though the late frost took out all of the stone fruits and berries (and the coyotes took out Whipstone’s melon crop), I’m still crossing my fingers for some apples in the next few weeks.

This week we have sweet potatoes! I am not sure we have ever had sweet potatoes in our shares before, so I’m so excited to get my hand on these ones from Fasteen Farms. We will probably eat ours baked and bathed in butter, but if you’re feeling more adventurous try out the sweet potato enchilada recipe below, which incorporates some of Whipstone Farms roasted green chiles as well.

Next week we will be sending out the Early Bird Contract for the 2021 season and opening up our shareholders-only signup page on the website. We currently have a waitlist of over 70 people, so I encourage all of you to reserve your 2021 CSA share as soon as possible. I will contact our waitlist in mid-November and I am expecting that we will be full very quickly. So if you have enjoyed this season and would like to support our local farms again next year please reserve your share as soon as we get the signups opened up next week.

Have a lovely week!
