October 2, 2019

It’s our penultimate week of the 2019 season, and the fields are slowing down. Willowbrook Farm has a cover crop planted and will be putting next year’s garlic crop in the field in just a few weeks. Frost and rain have finished off the tomatoes and eggplant, and winter squash is being harvested. It is the natural rhythm of every growing season and the crops are telling us that Summer is over and it’s time to cozy up with a nice warm meal. If you’re looking for some ideas give this week’s recipe for Spaghetti Squash with Roasted Chiles and Tomatoes a try.

If you are interested in joining us again next season, it is time to fill out our Early Bird Contract. We have a very large waitlist this year, so I encourage all of you to sign up early if you plan on being shareholders in 2020 to be sure you get a spot! I will contact our waitlist in early November, so please return your Early Bird Contract (with $50 deposit) as soon as possible. Our volunteers are not allowed to take your deposit, so please mail in your contract and deposit or signup and pay online.

Please mark your calendars for our annual End of Season Potluck on October 9th, our last CSA distribution date of the season. Potlucks will be held at our Cornville and Sedona distributions. Our annual potluck is a fun way to close out the season, share local foods, get to know your fellow shareholders, and feel the connectedness of the local food community. If you normally pick up your share in Camp Verde, you are welcome to join either the Cornville or Sedona potluck. Please contact us no later than Monday, October 7th, to let me know which potluck you will attend so we can be sure to have your share at the correct location.

Have a glorious week!
Meghan
