August 28, 2019

What a delicious share we have for you this week! Peaches from Gratitude Orchard, rainbow carrots, salad mix, and green chiles from Whipstone Farm, and figs, cucumbers, kale, garlic, and summer squash from Willowbrook Farm. I think there have only been a few weeks this season that we have not had salad mix or lettuce. Isn’t that crazy?! Growing tender little lettuce during the dry heat of August is truly impressive! As Shanti said in her newsletter this week (you can sign up here), the crops that usually do poorly at this time of year are doing great. Just another funny facet of this strange growing season.

This week is the last for our flower shares. Shanti and the flower crew at Whipstone Farm have provided such gorgeous bouquets this season and they sure will be missed! We hope you have enjoyed and appreciated the access to Whipstone’s beautiful, local flowers. Flowers will still be available at Interdependence Natural Foods, Prescott Farmers’ Market, and Flagstaff Farmers’ Market, so if you are looking for beautiful bouquets please keep it local and find Whipstone’s flowers at one of these locations.

Have a fantastic week!
Meghan
