June 13, 2018

We’re giving you all a little break on the greens this week because you might just have a backup of salad mix like I do. Your share this week will have a few new items to try out while you catch up on your greens. Pea shoots can be eaten alone, on a sandwich, in a salad, or made into pesto. They are tender and absolutely delicious. Broccolini is a slightly spicier version of broccoli. We eat it in stir fries or on its own roasted or sautéed. And blackberries are… just amazing any way you eat them!

For those of you feeling adventurous, try out the Radish Greens Soup recipe at the bottom of this email. I always try to provide recipes that will help us cook out of the box and try new things with our veggies. I will be out of town this week, so I won’t get a chance to try it this time around. If you decide to make it please let me know how it turns out!

Flower shares begin this week and I am so excited. We are so lucky to have an incredible local farm that grows such gorgeous flowers! Shanti at Whipstone Farm has become quite the floral artist and her love of flowers really shows. If you are signed up for a flower share you can find instructions for taking care of your bouquet here. You may want to bring a jar of water for your flowers, especially if you are not headed right home or have a long drive.

If you are looking for extra items from Verde Gardener and Willowbrook Farm this week, you can order here. Ordered items will be brought to CSA distributions for you to pick up. Contact Susanor Denisefor more information. If you have any problems placing your order you can contact Susan at (602) 885-8117. Denise and Susan will be visiting the Sedona distribution this week with some free samples!

Have an amazing week!
Meghan
