After so much waiting, the time has finally come… for CORN!!! We are so, so excited to have the first (and maybe only) corn harvest from Willowbrook Farm this week. The last time the CSA had corn was about eight years ago, so this is a big deal for us! Denise has worked so hard over the past few months to get this corn to harvest; she will even be sleeping in the field with it tonight to keep the raccoons away, who just discovered it last night.

Because this is organically grown corn, you may find worms or worm damage to your corn. This is completely normal and expected for corn grown without pesticides. This may be the only week that we get to enjoy delicious sweet corn this season, so thank you to Denise and bon appetit!

We will also be enjoying the first melons of the season this week. Most of the melons will be a variety called Galia, but there may be a few honeydew or cantaloupe available as well. I am already fantasizing about corn and melon salad. Yum.

This is the last week of our flower share from Whipstone Farm. Thank you so much to Shanti  and Cory for the gorgeous flowers this season! We are beyond lucky to have such an incredible variety of locally grown flowers. Whipstone sells their flowers at the Flagstaff Farmer’s Market every Sunday from 8-noon in the City Hall parking lot, so you can still get a hold of those beautiful bouquets if you can’t live with them.

Have a delicious week!
Meghan
