We hope you enjoyed all the delicious goodies last week! We’ve been itching to get some of Whipstone Farm’s asparagus since they first started harvesting it a few months ago and we were happy to snag some before its season ends. What a wonderful way to start the CSA season.
This week we are thrilled to have Spring’s first fruit, apricots. We should have apricots a few times over the next few weeks, and if you aren’t a fan of the fresh fruit, I recommend cooking a quick freezer jam. Apricot jam is my favorite jam (and I don’t particularly love fresh apricots) and ensures that you can enjoy the flavors of Spring through the winter.
This time of year is pretty heavy on the greens, but pretty soon we’ll be swimming in tomatoes, eggplant, and summer squash, so enjoy these fresh greens while we have them. They will also appear again at the end of the season when things start to cool down. At my house we make lots of salads and sautéed greens galore.
For those of you that have been asking, it is not too late to sign up for a flower share. The flower share begins on June 15th and costs $132 for twelve weeks of gorgeous flowers grown at Whipstone Farm. If you would like to sign up for a flower share, please email me. Only a few more weeks until we can enjoy our beautiful bouquets!
Just a reminder, please remember your reusable bags when you pick your share.
Have a great week!
